[BUG] Tapping the "Publish" button multiple times causes duplicate posts #1563

Description

@libewa

Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the issues (both open and closed)

Current Behavior

On slow Internet connections, it is possible to accidentally (or intentionally) tap the "Publish" button again, before the current post is fully uploaded, starting a new job posting the same post again.

Expected Behavior

The "Publish" button should be locked from the time it is tapped, until either the popover closes (because the post is published), or an error occurs (so the user can optionally edit the post, then try again).

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Create a new post
  2. Tap "Publish"
  3. Tap "Publish" again, before the purple bar fully moves to the right
  4. Open your profile
  5. Observe that the post might exist multiple times (if it doesn't, try from step 1)

Environment

- Device: iPhone 16
- OS: iOS 26.5.2
- Version: v2026.06
- Build: 7925

Anything else?

Reddit has had a similar problem for some time; the Redditors call it "comment mitosis".
