Open settings with the gear icon in the title bar. The settings panel expands the window to the side; toggle the gear again to close it. Settings are saved automatically.
If you are unsure about an option, leave the default and ask in the #questions channel on the Discord server.
The panel is organised into five tabs: General, Twitch, YouTube, Kick, and Themes.

| Language | Interface language. English and German are bundled; more are welcome via translation PRs. |
| Show Timestamps | Prefix each message with the time it arrived. |
| Show Waiting Message | Show a "Waiting for messages…" placeholder when a connected channel is quiet. |
| Vanish Hotkey | Global hotkey that toggles vanish mode. Requires one of Ctrl, Alt, or Shift plus another key (e.g. Ctrl+Shift+V). |

| Default Channel | Channel pre-filled on the home screen. |
| Fade Messages | Automatically fade out old messages. |
| Fade Timeout (seconds) | How long a message stays before fading (1–300). |
| Show Bots | Show or hide messages from known chat bots. |
| Hide Commands | Hide messages that start with ! (chat commands). |
| Hide Badges | Hide subscriber, moderator, and other badges. |
| User Blacklist | Comma-separated usernames to hide entirely. |
| Events | Show inline notifications for channel events (no login required): Subscriptions, Raids, Announcements, and Other Events. |

Pick the Active Theme from the dropdown. Three themes ship built in — Default, Compact, and Bubble — and are read-only. To customise a look, Duplicate a built-in theme and edit the copy.
Each custom theme exposes:
- Typography — font family, font size, and line height.
- Message — background, padding, border radius, spacing between messages, text color, text weight, text shadow, and a Top to Bottom toggle to show newest messages at the top.
- Username — font weight, and whether to show a colon after the name.
- Elements — badge size, emote size, and optional avatars with adjustable avatar size.
Use Export and Import to share themes as files.
Tip: export your theme and ask an AI chatbot to adjust it for you, then import it back.
