File access questions

I have several questions regarding file access.

• Is it possible to access the USB stick files via the FFUI panel?
• Could it be possible to delete local files from the internal memory? Currently I need to physically access the printer after printing many parts to clear the many models that slowly fill the internal memory?

Hello! Sorry for the late reply

• Accessing a USB from stock firmware is certainly possible , just make sure it's not a 3.X (use an older 2.X) and not above 32GB, or the printer won't play nice with it
• Deleting files (both internally and on the USB stick) is also possible, you just need to long-press on a file and then press the delete icon. You can select a group of files for bulk deletion as well.

If you're asking if this functionality can be added to FFUI, that should be possible with some g-code commands

I'll need to double-check about managing files on a USB drive, but adding control over the internal files is certainly doable

I was wrong to say this would be "certainly doable", unfortunately it does not seem possible to implement (in the way I had hoped)

I had assumed given FlashForge respects the standard m-code commands for print status / uploading files, it would also support M30 (or have some undocumented / proprietary command) for file deletion

After trying M30 and a few other commands with no success, I had a look at the actual firmware and it does not use any internal m-code commands for file deletion, or anything which is remotely accessible.

Remote file management through FFUI is still a possibility, but it would have to be over SSH , which requires obtaining root. I will be looking into this and implement an SSH-based file management UI soon

I've created a universal script/tool for SSH / SFTP on the 5m series/AD5X, and will be putting that in a new repo once it's cleaned up

You'll need to do some additional configuration for SSH/SFTP, see FlashForge-EasySSH for that process. Let me know if you have any questions or face issues
