This is a crash report.
I was running Alien in the background (aparrently with rendering enabled) while working in R-Studio (an IDE which I believe uses GPU acceleration to render its UI). This worked fine for about an hour, then I noticed that RStudio responded very sluggishly to scrolling. I tabbed over to Alien, and found it frozen in this state:
This is just the stock hanging garden simulation in alien 5 alpha26. This simulation had run for several hours in the background on another day, and todays simulation was just a continuation of that run. It seems to me that the "explosion" in the upper right isn't supposed to happen.
PC was still busy spinning its fans a lot (as usual when running a simulation), but it might have been doing it in bursts rather then continuously. I was unable to tab out or do anything else. ctrl+alt+del (or maybe ctrl+shift+esc) didn't show up either. At some point I tried alt+f4. Shortly thereafter (but maybe unrelated to it) the fans spun down. I then noticed that my mouse was the standard windows mouse, rather then the alien one. But it showed the "busy" cursor. I'm not sure if I had a mouse cursor before. Using the windows hotkey and placing the mouse in the lower left corder of the screen turned it into a normal windows cursor. Apparently because I was hovering on the windows-start-menu. I could open and close that menu invisibly with with windows hotkey and saw my mouse cursor immediately react be switching from and to the busy cursor. So the PC was responding well now, I just couldn't see anything, only the mouse cursor and the frozen alien screen. I was also able to hotkey myself back and forth between the first and second virtual desktop. I couldn't see it though, still just saw alien, but on the second desktop the mouse cursor wasn't busy anywhere on the screen. At that point I clicked onto alien, and got this error message:
After clicking it I could see the one behind:
I clicked "close program" and everything immediately went back to normal (except of course I lost my last hour of simulation).
