[ORE Submission] Update copy for Data Citations and Data Availability #284
CERN has submitted updated copy for the ORE-only submission form, specifically for data citations and data availability cc: @1StuJB
Note: Original ticket reported here: #167 (comment) (excerpt below):
Copy for the Data Citations block:
"As per our Author Guidelines((LINK TBD)), all articles that report original results must include details of how the raw underlying data can be accessed by peer reviewers and readers, precluding that it is safe and ethically permissible to do so. Use this field to add the full citation and link to your deposited data."
At the bottom of the form when opened:
"By submitting this form, the authors confirm that any data involving human participants has been de-identified in accordance with the Safe Harbor method."
And for the copy for the Data Availability Statement block:
"Please provide a brief summary of the availability of any data associated with your manuscript."
Please replace the copy in the image with the new copy.
changed the title [-][Submission] Update copy for Data Citations and Data Availability[/-][+][ORE Submission] Update copy for Data Citations and Data Availability[/+]on Jul 2, 2026
Regarding the first change. There are two descriptions available - one per section, which is used when multiple fields is used and some common instruction make sense for them. And than each field has its own description - in this case within the table header. We accidentally had the same description included both in section and table - so I removed the section description.
Following the logic from above - it would be better just to adjust the table description (see below) as thats dedicated for that particular field. As the submission wizard evolve - there might be something added to the Data section.
Let me know if thats ok, or you still would prefer to adjust the Section description and keep the original Table description.
Hi @jardakotesovec@mreiko , thanks a lot for the reasoning here, I really appreciate the thought process. I was actually torn on this one, but my winning feeling would be to please put it under the general text field and not in the table itself, so to make it like it is for the e.g. funders field later on (see screenshot below). Maybe it'll come back to bite me later, but I can't see this field expanding significantly in the future in a way that would negate the text if it is included in a general field.
Could you recolor the "Data citations" title header in the table as well though please to be consistent with the other tables. The same goes for several others throughout the submission form. The majority of headers are RGB (41,41,41), but the Upload Files (2,53,79), Data Citations is (65,95,116; and this is smaller text to the others), Contributors is (2,53,79), and Reviewer Suggestions is also (2,53,79). Could these be updated for consistency to (41,41,41) please :) Thanks a lot!
Reason why we use these descriptions inside the table header is that it works well also on the Workflow page, where we have all these tables as well.
The example with Funders from your screenshot above is built with legacy stack. We are gradually replacing/modernising these pieces. In fact new version of Funders just landed in OJS. It used to be plugin - now its integrated to the core, using same design language and principles as other parts. You will see it live after next code update (thursday). Sharing screenshot what its going to looks like. I noticed that we still have some consistency issues with the buttons.. thats on my list to clean it up.
Also I see that we would be moving Data availability to this screen.. based on #285 - might make sense to group it to same section with data citations.
Hi @1StuJB and @agata-morka
For this ticket, we are in need of the link to the Author Guidelines page but I understand that the content creation and entry are in progress. Would you be able to build out the static page content structure in the navigation? If so, that will allow us to start pointing to them in cases like the above, while you are filling in the actual content.
In general, the URL structure will remain the same as current on the CERN instance, except that our instance uses [https://ore-qa.web.cern.ch/] instead of [https://ore.eu/]
Is that information good enough for you to move ahead with?
Link is now correct. Copy has been updated. This passes QA.

Hi @jardakotesovec, ok I understand and accept those points, feel free to leave the text in the tables in that case. Thank you :)

All are checked in the submission workflow section and the editorial publication metadata section.
Copy of Data citations form is correct and located at the bottom of the form.
The Data Availability header is correct
