Hello world, I'm Mick - a research engineer at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia.
My passion is camera systems, and using robots to explore remote and challenging places humans can't get to. I've been working on some pretty cool projects:
- Underwater - AUV camera payloads: stereo visual-inertial odometry for GPS-denied diving, and low-light 4K photogrammetry
- Spectral - Hyperspectral and spectrometer payloads on the same AUV, for coral reflectance
- Reefs - Autonomous boat payloads for 2D and 3D reef modelling
- Rockets - Long-range GPS tracking avionics
- Antarctica - Autonomous rover for ice sheet monitoring
I work across hardware and software - PCB design, assembly, firmware, and the tools to make sense of the data.

If you're a scientist or engineer working on an interesting challenge, I'd love to hear about it!
